SHEPHERD FOR PRIVATE ESTATE IN PERTHSHIRE
An experienced shepherd is required for a 6,600 acre upland moorland estate, situated between Crieff and Aberfeldy, to work alongside an existing team of one. The successful candidate would have the ability to progress within the team and wider estate.
The estate hosts a breeding flock of 1,400 pedigree Blackface ewes, split 700 across the two main farm sites, with lambing in April. This role provides the opportunity to be supported in a team environment and but to also work autonomously, with the opportunity to take an active role in producing pedigree Blackface breeding stock.
The flock is operated in line with tick management requirements, with routine stock treatments every 6-8 weeks.
Essential requirements:
• Full UK drivers licence • Ability to work and communicate within a team, and to other estate departments• Basic machinery operation• Well-trained working dogs• Knowledge and experience of moorland management practices
ATV Sit Astride and pesticide certification are also desirable.
