Deer stalking

The estate is part of the Glenelg Deer Management Group - a group of estates that are recognised as providing some of the finest, premium traditional Highland red deer stalking in Scotland. Glen Quoich is the largest estate within the group, providing a topographically mixed range of glens and carries to the north of Loch Quoich. Deer management is strictly controlled through the wider deer management plan, adjusting annual culls to both grazing pressure and recruitment. Winter mortality is higher than the average, given changing winter weather patterns and height above sea level. The owners currently look to cull between 35 to 45 stags and 50 to 60 hinds and calves, per annum. The stalking utilises traditional stalking and pony paths while much of the actual stalking is determined by the steepness of ground, thus maintaining the traditional look and feel of the stalking experience. ATVs are used to recover deer along old pony paths.

Farming

The estate manages a herd of c. 50 breeding Highland cows that are managed between the Quoich hills in the spring, summer and autumn months while being outwintered at the farm at lnvergarry. While no extensive experience of cattle management is required, having the ability to work with cattle (tractor/machinery management, feeding) will be a requirement.
