Head Gamekeeper - Ref 1311 Date: July 18, 2024

Argyll

Head Gamekeepers Position, Argyll

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious gamekeeper on a private Estate in Cowal, Southern Argyll from early 2025.

The 6,000 acre Estate is family owned, and a well renowned and successful Pheasant and Partridge shoot has been developed by the Shooting Syndicate over approx. 1,000 acres. The Syndicate undertakes approximately 35 driven days shooting each season.

The successful applicant must have a minimum 5 years’ experience in the shooting/land management industry and the self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team or on their own. The Estate prides itself in the quality and ‘experience’ of its sport and is keen to further develop the high reputation of the shoot. The successful applicant must be reliable, ambitious and pro-active in their work ethic.

The role will be varied and not limited to traditional gamekeeping and therefore the successful applicant will need to be open-minded and willing to tackle new challenges.

Applicants must also have a full UK driving license, valid shotgun and firearms certificates along with ATV, sit-astride and chainsaw certificates. Further training will be provided as required.

The position comes with good terms, including a 3-bedroom house, outbuildings and kennels and a competitive salary based on experience of the successful candidate.

Applicants must know, understand and be willing to embrace the challenges of living and working on the West Coast of Scotland.
