Gamekeeper & Hunting Guide Due to continuing growth and expansion, an opportunity has arisen to join our Game & Habitat Management Team on an exclusive private estate in Ontario, Canada.

The 2,300 acre privately owned facility is located approximately 3 hours north of Toronto within the rural township of Georgian Bluffs. Operating from April until December, the position offered is full time, year round, and includes a range of benefits. Our ideal candidate already has a minimum of two years of game rearing experience (Pheasant & Partridge), is physically fit, and has a desire to progress within the industry. Experience in the handling of working gundogs is a distinct advantage, as well as having experience in deer management. The position would ideally suit a single person, however, for the right candidate, opportunities may exist for a partner to work within one of our other departmental teams, such as Member Services, Lodge Operations, or Outdoor Operations. The Role: o Support the delivery of the clubs’ game bird and habitat management program o Deliver on Member expectations in line with a world class hunting and shooting facility o Working closely with Head Gamekeeper you will adhere to operational plans on all aspects relating to game bird and habitat management o Ensure delivery of safe and interesting hunts of various kinds, applying an innovative spirit for purposes of creating memorable shooting experiences o Deputize for the Head Gamekeeper in their absence assuming responsibility and accountability for all game related activities including the general caring, health, and release of game birds o Raise pheasants, including breeding from incubation of eggs to maturity, presenting birds of the highest quality and appearance o Support and assume responsibility for lawful predator control activities (necessary and on-going) to minimize stress to, and loss of livestock o Working with the Head of Game, support the implementation of the game habitat farming plan including design, layout, cultivation and planting of game cover crops, forestry (including felling) and deer feed plots o Follow all Griffith Island Club policies and procedures as directed by the ‘Executive’ and the Club Management o Ensure all equipment, vehicles and store facilities specifically relating to game and habitat management are kept in a good state of repair and are always presentable Qualifications: o HNC Game with Wildlife Management (or proven industry experience) o HC Gamekeeping o DSC Level 2 o Game Meat Hygiene This position is high intensity and diverse. Candidates must be physically fit and highly motivated. Canadian residency is offered to the ideal candidate with the potential to progress to Canadian Permanent Residency, and Citizenship. Applicants must be legally permitted to work in Canada and will be required to undergo an extensive background check as part of the application process through IRCC, (Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada). Compensation and Benefits: o Annual Salary is $44,990.40 (equivalent to GBP25,454.44). o You will be eligible to participate in the staff gratuity program, payable monthly in season by direct deposit. (equivalent payout is approximately GBP3,000.00 per season) o Accommodation on Griffith Island will be provided along with all main meals (breakfast, luncheon, and supper) during your scheduled working shift. o You will be eligible to participate in the Club medical and dental benefit plan. o You will receive annual paid holidays and benefits as per GIC policy. From the commencement of your continuous period of employment you will be entitled to fifteen days annual leave each year (pro rata) plus the annual statutory entitlement to Canadian National holidays (pro rata). o Subsidized shared mainland accommodation is available.
