Job description

ATBone and Sons Ltd are offering a unique and varied position to run a small family shoot, comprising of 10 guest days per year and assist in the general upkeep of our multiple operational and industrial sites across Hertfordshire. Within the gamekeeping element, the candidate will be expected to rear and maintain the birds, carry out predator control, maintain the woodland and run the shoot days. In addition to this, the role requires regular grounds maintenance including chain sawing, hedge cutting, weeding, strimming, fencing etc and ad hoc yard tasks.

Gamekeeping

• Rearing, feeding, and releasing game birds• Managing vermin and pest populations• Conducting predator control to protect game species.• Monitoring game health and controlling diseases.• Maintaining woodland• Organising and coordinating shoot days.• Ensuring compliance with all legal regulations regarding shooting• Training and managing beaters and picker uppers• Setting up and maintaining release pens and game drives.• Preventing poaching and unauthorised access to estate land.• Managing and deterring pests

General Estate Duties – could include, but not limited to

• General grounds maintenance on multiple operational and industrial sites, to include weed control and grass maintenance• Repairing and maintaining fences, paths, and other estate infrastructure.• Assisting on the operational base farmyard, whether that be loading/screening woodchip or general yard forklift work such as loading/unloading lorries• Carrying out operations related to the biomass enterprise• Hedge planting• Fencing

A valid Firearms Certificate (FAC) and Shotgun Certificate required.
