ASSISTANT GARDENER – GLOUCESTERSHIRE

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, full time Gardener to assist our gardening team.

We are a private estate in rural Gloucestershire. This is a working, hands-on role and will involve being part of a small team of dedicated gardeners. The Estate is located near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. The gardens extend to approximately 12 acres and the wider Estate extends to approximately 670 acres and consists of grassland, woodland and several residential properties and associated buildings.

The Gardener will have good experience working with the following:

Ø Vegetable gardens.

Ø Greenhouses

Ø Lawns

Ø Hedge work

Ø Fruit orchards

Ø Formal Borders

The Gardener’s job description includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

Ø Working alongside the Gardening staff with Strimming, weeding, tractor driving, hedge cutting, chainsaw work, mowing and all aspects of garden maintenance

The role is varied and requires a “can do” attitude to tackle all sorts of various tasks that may arise.

Ø You will be discrete and considerate towards the owners of the estate

Ø You will be approachable, presentable and you will have a positive outlook

Ø You will be prepared to work flexible hours when required

The successful candidate will:

Ø Possess a valid UK driving licence

Ø Have past professional gardening experience

Ø Certification in Horticulture an advantage but not essential

Ø Holding some certificates such as spraying, chain-saw, sit-in ATV etc an advantage but not essential.

This is an outside role so candidates must be prepared to work outside year-round and in all conditions as required.

Hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
