A position will become available on a prestigious country estate in the south East of England in 2025 for an apprentice/ trainee Gamekeeper ( start date tbc)
The prospective candidate/ student would assist the headkeeper in all aspects of pheasant and partridge husbandry right through from laying stock, and rearing to winter feeding birds.
The student will also learn trapping and snaring on the job and the running of shoot days along with all other aspects of game keeping and estate life, the student will also attend sparsholt college for a few block weeks throughout the year starting in September to add the academic aspects and gain certificates in the relevant fields and ultimately a qualification, the college course duration is approximately 17 months .
Accomodation will be provided on the estate along with some protective clothing etc.
The student should ideally have a long standing desire to become a keeper and have some experience in the shooting world of some description. This temporary position will give someone the experience and qualifications needed in order to move into the profession.
A full UK licence and vehicle for personal use is essential for the position.
The salary will be in line with the relevant rate for apprentices and some bonuses are very possible for a hard working individual.
