I registered with RR and received an email offering me a week's work looking after an estate's grounds while the keeper was on holiday. The job information emailed through was first rate - where, when, how long, how much pay etc. This reassured me and gave me the peace of mind to know I was dealing with a very professional and trustworthy agency.

Whilst working on the estate I received a call from George to see that everything was OK. When the work finished, George gave me a follow up call to see how it all went plus offered me a further month of work at the same Estate. I was delighted and am even more pleased that this temporary work has now  progressed into a full time position not only for me, but also my partner and we now also live on the Estate!

Full-time Lecturer – Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management

Pay-Scale £23,360 - £34,233 (pay award pending)


North Highland College is seeking to add to our lecturing team in our Rural Studies Centre on the outskirts of Halkirk.  The successful candidate will enhance and complement the present team, delivering on our nationally recognised Gamekeeping programmes which the college aims to continue to grow and develop in the future.


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, forward-thinking and highly motivated individual with recent practical experience in Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management You must have achieved a suitable and relevant qualification, such as an HNC Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management (or similar industry qualification).   Ideally, you will have a proven track record of working within a successful team and demonstrate evidence of mentoring and coaching others.   You will be someone who is recognised within the game-keeping community for taking the lead - driving forward and adapting to the changes required to maintain the currency of good practice, responding to legislative changes etc.     You will have existing networks within the sector and will be able to work effectively with estate owners/managers


You will plan, prepare and deliver a range of theoretical and practical teaching materials for both Further and Higher education students.  You will conduct assessments using a variety of teaching media, including face to face, online, video-conferencing, practical demonstration and instruction in the field.  An important part of the post will be to support students.  You must be able to communicate with and motivate our students to enable them to realise their potential. You will be a strong role-model for our students.

Ideally, you will have a teaching background but, if not, you must be willing to work towards appropriate teaching qualifications, for which you will receive support.

  • Highly developed communication skills
  • A suitable and relevant qualification, such as an HNC Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management (or similar industry qualification).  
  • A proven record of working as part of a successful delivery team
  • IT skills to support and develop a range of teaching media
  • Current Shotgun and firearms Certificates

This full time permanent position would suit a fit, active, reliable and trustworthy country loving couple with common sense and a “can do” attitude, prepared to assist with countryside activities and pursuits, gardening including vegetable garden, occasional cooking, driving, dog and house sitting.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust, Scottish Natural Heritage, Forestry Commission Scotland, Red Squirrel Survival Trust and Scottish Land and Estates, with support from local stakeholders, are implementing Phase 3 of a major project to conserve Scotland's red squirrel population.

We are recruiting a new grey squirrel control and monitoring officer to, carry out grey squirrel control and monitoring to a targeted programme aimed at progressively reducing the grey squirrel population in Aberdeen to allow red squirrels to continue to recolonise city parks and gardens. This will be an interesting post with a great deal of opportunity to develop innovative approaches to both our monitoring and our trapping methods. The control officer will report to the SSRS Project Officer North East.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Employed by SWT, applicants will hold a vocational qualification in game and wildlife management, gamekeepering, countryside management or a degree in a related subject, and will demonstrate experience in a relevant field.
  •  A commitment to wildlife conservation and the ability to keep accurate records of both trapping effort and catches are essential.
  •  Proven experience of effective working with the public, private landowners, conservation agencies and volunteer groups along with good interpersonal skills are desirable, as is a familiarity with Aberdeen.
  • Current driving licence essential.

Shepherd/Gamekeeper/Groundsman required to assist on diverse farming enterprise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for running a small private shoot looking after 8 week poults through to end of season, he/she will also assist with the maintenance of a  flock of 2000 sheep, including moving,feeding and vaccinating/worming etc. During the summer months there will be some grounds keeping duties.
